August Favorites 2017
Hello, beautiful people! As August comes to an end, I decided to go a different route and talk about the products that I used and really liked. I hope to continue this trend on favorites so here's my first post rounding up the products I could not do without in the month of August. I've included my short reviews on Ole Henriksen Transforming Walnut Scrub, Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick, Elizabeth Arden White Tea Eau de Toilette Spray, and The Body Shop White Musk Eau de Parfum for this month.
Ole Henriksen Transforming Walnut Scrub - This is the first time I am trying a skin care product from Ole Henriksen and I must say I am impressed with the brand. I have sworn by Laura Mercier's Flawless Skin Face Polish all these years so I was a bit hesitant at first. After having used the new face scrub, I am happy to say I love it just as much! The main ingredients include walnut powder, ginseng, and chamomile. My skin is sensitive so it's important that I don't use any harsh exfoliators on my face; my skin will react immediately. I have been using the Ole Henriksen Transforming Walnut Scrub for a month now and I am happy with the results. It's great for purifying pores. It smells pleasant/sweet and is not at all overpowering. I use it twice a week and it has been great thus far. It retails for $28 and I bought mine from Sephora.
Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick - I have used Too Faced's Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks and even though they were not matte, I really liked the formula. So I decided to purchase two from their fairly new line of matte liquid lipsticks. I bought the shade Suck It and Wine Not?
Too Faced Suck It
Too Faced Wine Not?
Suck It is a deep rose shade with warm undertones. It is my favorite shade at the moment. Too Faced describes it as Matte Rosewood. The second shade that I got is called Wine Not? and it's a beautiful plum shade. Too Faced describes this one as Matte Deep Sangria. This one is a beautiful fall shade. When you're applying the liquid lipstick, you need to be quick with it as it dries relatively fast compared to the liquid lipsticks by Anastasia Beverly Hills. They are very pigmented and not too drying. They're long-lasting and will last you 8-12 hours. Touch up is only required if you eat something greasy otherwise it's not necessary. Keep in mind that there'll be a bit of transfer when you drink or eat something. I bought mine on the Too Faced website for $21 each. The website also shows you how to do a cool ombre look with these two shades which I haven't attempted yet but want to try! I would definitely want to pick up a few more shades from this line as I really love the formula.
Elizabeth Arden White Tea Eau de Toilette Spray - I got a sample with one of my beauty purchases and fell in love with the fragrance instantly so I bought one in travel size so I can carry it around with me. It's a must-have for summer! It's a musky-woody floral-fresh perfume - my favorite combination basically! The very first whiff reminded me of limes and sea breeze. When I saw that it was an eau de toilette, I wasn't sure if it would be long-lasting but boy was I wrong! It'll last you good 7-8 hours. It's light yet intense. Top notes include Italian Mandarin (citrus), Clary Sage essence (herbal), Japanese White Fern (herbal) and Sea Breeze Accord (marine). Middle notes include White Iris Accord (floral), White Tea extract, Mate Absolute Paraguay (herbal) and Sapucaya Accord. Base notes include Ambrette Seed Absolute (amber), Madras Wood (woody), Musk (Serenolide, Velvione and Sylkolide), and Tonka Bean Venezuela Absolute. It's my favorite perfume this summer and can be worn during the day or night depending on your preference, though I love to wear it during the day. I bought it from Macy's for $37.
The Body Shop White Musk Eau de Parfum - A beautiful floral-musky fragrance which is again perfect for the summer season. I received the spritz version back home in Dubai as a gift a few years ago and I instantly fell in love with the scent. I bought the eau de parfum and it smells exactly the same but is much stronger and lasts longer too. This one's perfect for day time. Top notes include Lily, Musk, Ylang Ylang and Galbanum Basil. Middle notes include Musk, Lily, Jasmine and Rose. Finally, base notes include Iris, Amber, Patchouli, Vanilla, Peach (subtle), Jasmine, Rose (subtle) and other herbal notes. If you like musky fragrances, you will love this one! It's definitely much more long-lasting than the spritz version but you will need to touch-up after 4-5 hours. It's available on The Body Shop website and I bought it for $24.
