Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner

Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner

I love this toner to the moon and back. Continue reading to know why it's my favorite toner till date!

I bought the Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner online from Sephora.com last year in winter. I usually have combination skin which is acne-prone. Last winter, I had a facial cleanser debacle. In short, my skin had become extremely dry and was flaking. I was worried that this toner which is specially made for oily skin might worsen my skin situation, but it did not. I used it with other moisturizing products to get my skin back to its normal condition.

It's summer in Boston now and I have been using this toner religiously (two times a day) and it's amazing! Its gel-like formula melts into the skin to tone and tighten it. In my opinion, it works great on both dry and oily skin types since I have used it in both situations and have not faced any issues. It has a pleasant smell which is not too overpowering. The scent stays with you when you're applying and when it's drying out, but it soon dissipates. I have found other Sunday Riley skin care products to have a pungent smell but this one actually has a nice fresh fragrance. I use my fingers to apply this toner as I have found it to be more effective. You can use a cotton pad, however, note that this might just melt into it before you get the chance to apply it to your skin, so act fast! I use it twice daily and it has lasted me over 5 months already. A little goes a long way. You need a teeny-tiny bit more than a pea-sized amount for your face and neck.

The packaging is great. It has a pump so make sure you control the pressure or you will be wasting a bit of product. Having said that, I believe it's a perfect package, given the water-gel consistency of the product.

Why do I consider it to be my holy grail product when it comes to toners?

  • It does not reek of alcohol which some of my previous toners did such as Clinique and Lancôme.
  • It does not dry out my skin at all.
  • I have actually experienced acne-free skin for a month which has never happened before! My acne has definitely not disappeared but it's less frequent now or at least less widespread.

It's not a cheap product. It retails for $55 in the USA. However, it will last you at least 5 months with daily use. It is worth every penny. I rarely like a skin care product that demands a repeat purchase. No points for guessing, I will be buying this toner again.

That's about it, beautiful people. I hope this post is helpful if you've been on the fence about this toner or you're shopping for one. Get a sample from your local beauty store to see if it works for your skin type.

Have a great Sunday!
