$20 Off Promotion at Sephora for VIB Rouge Members
Hi, everyone! I'd like to take this moment to thank everyone who reads and messages me regarding my posts. Y'all have been kind. Thank you so much for your support.
Between July 24 and 27, 2017, Sephora ran a promotion for its VIB Rouge members. It was $20 off on purchase of $100 or more. I tried my best to ignore the email but I did not succeed. To make myself feel better (less guilty), I decided to order the "essentials." I purchased Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial cream, Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer - Pore Minimizing and finally, Cover | FX Natural Finish Oil Free Foundation. It is my first time trying these products so I wanted to test them before sharing my views. Let's begin with the Korres night cream.
Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial - Prior to purchasing this night cream, I used to use Clarins Bright Plus Repairing Brightening Night Cream which I really liked. It has been discontinued now so I was on the hunt for a new night cream. I came across Korres and since I have never tried this brand before, I decided to give it a shot. In my night cream I am essentially looking for two features - moisturizing (because your skin loses moisture overnight) and brightening. This cream is said to work on all skin types and I have combination skin and so far, it has worked well with my skin type. It has a nice light-weight texture and doesn't feel oily on the skin. It also states that it addresses issues with uneven skin tone while improving skin texture for a brighter/luminous complexion. Personally, I have not seen any improvement in the correction of my uneven skin tone. Though after repeated usage, my skin does feel supple each morning. It might not permanently correct the skin tone, but the skin appears healthy. The key ingredients in this product are wild rose oil and Vitamin C which help with anti-aging, hydrating and brightening. The product supposedly combines the fast results of a facial mask with the deep moisturization of a night cream. It has helped with the slight improvement of my skin texture for sure. A little amount goes a long way so you don't need a lot. It has a strong rose fragrance which I personally like. I need my skin care products to smell good and I really like how nice and luxurious this cream smells! It retails for $48 at Sephora.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (Pore Minimizing) - Let me start off by saying I have heard great things about this primer before I finally decided to try it. I have used Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer in the past which I really love. The thing with me is that I tend to get bored of using the same products over-time and like to try out new ones. So I decided to get the travel size of the Smashbox primer to test if it actually works. The answer is yes, it does but it's not better than the one by Benefit Cosmetics. They are both equally good in blurring pores. I have large pores so I need a good primer to blur them. I need to be realistic so I can't expect them to disappear! This primer does its job. It is mattifying so it's great for oily skin. I use this primer mainly on the cheeks and in combination with another face primer. I use it before applying my liquid or cream foundation and it pairs well with it. It has no fragrance per se. I like it but I'm not as impressed as I thought I'd be considering Smashbox is known for its primers. The full size (1oz/30ml) retails for $39 and the travel size (0.5oz/15ml) retails for $16 at Sephora, so if you do the math, you're getting more bang for the buck with the travel size product! A little goes a long way so I don't think I will be using this up anytime soon.
Cover | FX Natural Finish Oil Free Foundation - Another first! I prefer cream foundations over the liquid ones and I am not sure why. I guess I find them easier to blend. I have used three BB creams and cream foundations from Estée Lauder and wanted to try one from a different brand. Cover | FX is mainly known for its award winning Custom Cover Drops so I decided to test the cream foundation. Let me start off by saying the shade range is insane! There is a shade for every skin tone and undertone! My shade is G+60. For undertones, they have the shade names beginning with a P (pink), N (neutral), and G (golden). G+ is for warmer and more olive skin tones than the G shades according to the brand. The cream foundation is ideal for dry to normal skin but I have combination skin and have not faced any issues with this cream foundation. It has medium to full coverage and is buildable. I find that very common with cream foundations. I use my Beauty Blender with this one and the application is smooth and flawless. I am happy with the coverage it provides and the finish is radiant/dewy. I set it with my Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder. It stays on for 7-8 hours so I have no complaints with the lasting prowess of this cream foundation. It retails for $40 at Sephora.
Overall, I am happy with my new purchases. I am digging my Korres night cream and also love the cream foundation and pore primer. This post will be out while I am taking a short vacation in Chicago so my next blog post will be on travel essentials! Have a good weekend!
