NEW Pat McGrath Labs - MatteTrance and LuxeTrance Lipsticks
First of all, here's wishing my readers a very Happy Diwali! Have a wonderful and prosperous year! I had another post lined up for this month, but it had to take a backseat for these yummy luxurious beauties. Mother (Pat McGrath) has released the best lipsticks ever. I got one from each line/collection. From the MatteTrance collection, I picked up Flesh 3 and from the LuxeTrance collection, I picked up Lavish. I cannot rave enough about how awesome they are and I can easily say they are the best lipsticks I own!
Let's rewind a bit. The MatteTrance collection dropped in July I think and it was touted as a limited edition collection. I obviously could not make up my mind; I was not sure where to swatch them as they were not in Sephora stores at that point in time, and I was also not sure if the hefty price tag of $38 per lipstick was justified. However, there was not a single reviewer who didn't love the lipsticks. I wanted to get one from the nude spectrum and my options were 1995, Omi and Flesh 3. After seeing some swatches online, I could tell Flesh 3 was the best option for my skin tone. While the selection process was underway, these lipsticks were available on Sephora's website with the limited edition tagline and they disappeared in the blink of an eye. Since they were limited edition, there was no option to sign up for restock email reminders. I was extremely upset to say the least. I even went to Pat McGrath's Instagram page and requested her to rerelease the MatteTrance Collection! She or her team liked my messages twice! #CheapThrills
Come October, Pat McGrath Labs announced a new LuxeTrance collection. I was excited to get my hands on this one but I was still missing Flesh 3. That was the original shade/finish I wanted. Luckily, the company decided to release both collections on Sephora.com and it doesn't say limited edition anymore. Also, I received an email from Sephora yesterday declaring the Best of Allure beauty award in the lipstick category was awarded to the MatteTrance lipsticks! I am not surprised.
When I think of Pat McGrath Labs lipstick, the following words come to my mind: luxurious, rich, pigmented, long-wearing, creamy, velvety, smooth, moisturizing, and bold! The packaging is identical for both collections. It has some weight to it. It's a rich black and gold combo that looks and feels luxurious. The cute boxes they come in are just precious. The design is so intricate and colorful and the packaging is absolutely perfect. I have actually saved the boxes they came in because I was so mesmerized by the designs on them!
I'll talk about the MatteTrance Lipstick first in detail. As I already mentioned, I bought Flesh 3 which is a beautiful brown rose shade.
When you apply the lipstick, it goes on extremely smooth and it's insanely pigmented. One swipe is all you need, period. The matte lipstick is not at all drying like other matte lipsticks out there in the market. I won't go as far as to say it won't budge because it will if you grab a bite. If you don't, it's going to stay put the whole day. Even though I touched up, it was ever so lightly as the pigmentation is excellent. It's opaque and rich to the core. It is lightweight and offers the right amount of moisturization. Even though it's matte, it's actually a creamy formula. It's not transfer proof so if you're drinking something, it will stain the cup/glass. But that alone is not enough to get rid of the pigment on your lips. It's ultra rich if I have not mentioned that a hundred times already! It is by far my favorite matte lipstick on the block.
The LuxeTrance lipstick that I got is in the shade Lavish. I searched online for a swatch of this lipstick but could not find one so I took a chance by ordering it. Verdict: no regrets! I love it!
It's the prettiest mauve rose shade. The shade actually goes on lighter than it appears on the tube. The LuxeTrance lipstick compared to the MatteTrance is creamier and very hydrating. It has a satin-sheen finish. It's definitely opaque and smooth just like the other one. It is by no means shiny or glossy. It glides on easily and has an excellent color payoff. This one needed touch up as well after eating but that is to be expected of a cream finish lipstick. Nonetheless, it is long wearing. It's not transfer proof though. Usually, cream finish lipsticks are often sheer. That is not the case with LuxeTrance which I appreciate. If I didn't want color on my lips, I'd just use a balm! There are many more shades in this line so I really want to pick up a few more in the near future. If I had to describe the LuxeTrance formula, I'd say it's rich and hydrating.
The Pat McGrath Labs Lipsticks are worth the $38 price tag. These are the best lipsticks on the market and if I have to splurge almost 40 bucks on a lipstick, it's going to be on these beauties. I love both the finishes but somehow, the MatteTrance is my favorite and I hope Pat McGrath comes out with more shades in the MatteTrance line. To be very honest, there's not a major difference in the finishes. The best part is that they're both hydrating and pigmented. You can go for any finish as you're shopping for the right shade(s). I think it's going to be hard to find dupes of these great lipsticks. In the MatteTrance line, I am eyeing McMenamy and in the LuxeTrance line, I am eyeing Sorry Not Sorry, Beautiful Creature, and 35mm. I bought the MatteTrance and LuxeTrance lipsticks from Sephora. Flesh 3, as of today, is currently unavailable but you can sign up to receive notifications for when it's back in stock.
Hope you are having a good weekend. I cannot wait to be back with another post!
