Sephora Beauty Insider Sale Haul Part I - Skin care

Sephora Beauty Insider Sale Haul Part I - Skin care

Hello, peeps! I will have multiple posts coming in the next few weeks that'll cover the purchases I made back in April during the VIB Sale! I received a flat 15% off on all products. Today's post will only cover the skin care products purchased during the sale. There is a reason why I usually blog a couple of weeks after making new purchases and it is so that I can test the products a few times before I review them (also, I get busy with work!). Skin care products are usually difficult to gauge unless you use them overtime for at least a couple of weeks or even months. On the other hand, if your skin reacts poorly to a new skin care product, you'll know instantly! The skin care brands purchased during the sale are Peter Thomas Roth, Ole Henriksen and Drunk Elephant. Luckily all the products that I purchased, have worked well for me so far. These are all new products and I am using them for the very first time.

1. Peter Thomas Roth Potent-C™ Power Serum - It's not my first time purchasing a Peter Thomas Roth product. I have used quite a few products from this brand in the past such as a collection of face masks, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen powder. The serum is rich and I use it at night before applying my moisturizer.

Together, they work wonders on my skin. The goal of this serum is to brighten the face and work on uneven skin tone. While it does the job of making the face look alive next morning, it really cannot target hyperpigmentation as it runs deep. I love this serum though. It is fragrance-free according to Sephora, however, I get a very faint serum-like scent. It doesn't linger so it's not an issue for me. This serum is good to achieve that glowy look. The main ingredient in this product is Vitamin C. I have used this Peter Thomas Roth Potent-C™ Power Serum for more than a month now and I absolutely love it. I'd would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a brightening serum. This one is pricey. It retails for $95 and I am glad I got it during the sale.

2. OLEHENRIKSEN A Brighter Truth™ Brightening Essentials Set - This set by Ole Henriksen contains a facewash, serum, and a moisturizing cream. It retails for $34 and for a travel set I think you get an excellent deal considering the amount of product you are getting.

This set works well with my Peter Thomas Roth serum as it contains Vitamin C as well and is aimed at brightening the skin. All three products have a sweet orange fragrance and work well together. You can use these products in the morning or at night and I use them at night. I start with the Face the Truth™ Cleanser followed by the Truth Serum® and finally use the Truth Advanced Moisturizing Crème. There is another product that I use with the trio and I'll get to that in a bit. I'd like to point out that the moisturizing cream is lightweight. I prefer to use the facewash on days my skin is oily and has taken a beating outdoors. Overall, I am glad that I made this purchase as I am happy with the results.

3. OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Crème - Yet another brightening product that I purchased and loved is the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright eye cream. It's rich in Vitamin C and is also moisturizing. According to Sephora's website, "Inspired by the makeup artist must-have, banana powder, this yellow formula contains special pigments to instantly brighten and color-correct the eye area."

It's meant for all skin types and I love using this eye cream in combination with the other Ole Henriksen products. It lightens the under eye area to a certain extent (don't expect any miracles though.) You can wear it under your concealer but I have been using this eye cream at night before sleeping. I honestly get the fragrance of oranges than bananas with this one! It's an expensive product because for $38, you only get 0.5 oz! However, you don't need to use much when applying under the eye area so I am sure it's going to last me more than 2-3 months!

4. DRUNK ELEPHANT Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream - Everyone is harping about Drunk Elephant's skin care line so I had to give it a try and I'm not disappointed. It's my favorite moisturizer!

It's a rich one so I'd suggest using it only when you need that extra nourishment. I got it when my heater was still on so I used to use it everyday. It's right in between a lightweight moisturizer and a thick balm. I love the texture and it is fragrance-free. The packaging is unique too. You need to push the lid to squeeze out the cream which I think is a clever idea.

The cream contains seven rare African oils according to the Sephora website. I have not broken out from it and I love using it at night or in the morning when my skin is sometimes dry and flaky. I am more likely to use this product in winter than summer. It's supposed to fight the signs of aging but for this bit, I will report back in 5 years! ;) I love this cream and will be definitely repurchasing it for next winter. It retails for $60

I have bought some more products during the sale which I will share with you in the next few posts. Stay tuned!
